Mervyn Morris, the Poet Laureate of Jamaica, is making a rare trip to the UK, and will be taking part in a 8 date reading tour, co-ordinated by Speaking Volumes.
One of the finest international contemporary poets, Mervyn Morris, has also nurtured generations of outstanding Caribbean voices over decades. The incisive poetry that characterises his work ranges from the personal to the political, from the local to the universal, and which has come to be seen as some of the best writing to emerge out of the Caribbean in modern times.
His visit will include events with Writers’ Centre Norwich and Bristol Poetry Institute; trips to the Universities of York, Warwick and Goldsmiths; and a special event at the British Library, appearing with the ever-wonderful Mimi Khalvati and John Hegley.
